The Hop Yard

IMG_2746I stopped by the The Hop Yard on Friday. They’re in the cool Tophoy Building on Fourth Avenue, north of Ninth.  The service was eager and friendly. While this quaint market carries staples, they’re also known for their east coast style grinders and fresh salads, all made in house. The pork sandwich and hibiscus tea are customer faves. The shop was filled with regulars, with 6 of 8 indoor tables filled at lunchtime. I purchased the special grinder of the day (chicken, it was tender, juicy and flavorful), upgraded to a pesto pasta salad and had a Mexican Fresca. All for $6.50. Now, that can’t be beat!

Wait. It can. A streetcar stop lies right at their doorstep!

A cappuccino at Cafe Stella followed.  Cafe Stella has set up shop at the Mercado San Agustin.  They use ExoRoast coffee beans.  The cappuccino was bursting with flavor and less expensive than the famed national chain.  High quality, fresh coffee and the price was right!

I rounded out my day my using my Golden Coupon at Pop-Cycle, purchasing a couple of locally handcrafted items, upcycled from their previous lives.  Now, everyone’s happy!
