There’s No Place Like Home

6 Feb

From the “Y” to an arts center, in a spot once slated for condos, the new District on Fifth is going up fast and it’s huge! The details and pics on their website show off an upscale lifestyle for university students. It’s a ton of people in a relatively small space!

Meanwhile, the new Armory Building for seniors is gracing Congress Avenue next to the Santa Cruz River. With all of the amenities of modern living, the architecture has a wonderfully historic feel. How fitting that it rises next to Tucson’s oldest tree in a place where the region’s earliest inhabitants dwelled. The new road and parking are going in right alongside.

In the Mercado District, which has been dormant since the housing crash, we find three new homes rising.

Will the Gadsden-designed boutique hotel be their next project?  Or their condo project?

We’re still searching for the thoughtful developer who hires the innovative local architects to create affordable housing for the rest of us.

Demand has returned! Developers come home to create home!
