And you didn’t think you could grow it here…

IMG_2722Fantastic job, Doug Biggers, for the inaugural issue of your classy new magazine. Edible Baja Arizona is a visual and literary delight. Thank you for highlighting the foods, people and sustainable ways of this great place we call home. We wish you much success!

One cannot help but be inspired by this issue. You can make your own hummus, support a local farmers market or farm, become part of a coop, heck – start your own garden in your backyard! And – yes – we should all be doing that!

Contributors include T’ohono poet and professor Ofelia Zepeda, healthy living guru Dr. Andrew Weil, writer Barbara Kingsolver and the stunning photography of Steven Meckler.

So, just for kicks this week, we made some homemade pesto from our easy to grow basil in a pot, and baked fresh bread using stone ground wheat I picked up at the farmers market on Thursday. It doesn’t get any better than this.

Look for this free magazine at your local stores. Note the wealth of local businesses inside and support them!  I’ve already picked up two more issues and mailed them to out of state friends!  Yup, Tucson, we have another gem on our hands.
