Independence Week is Back

4 Jul

Shop local. Or stay home. Many of Tucson’s 360 member business of localfirstaz.com are participating in Independence Week. Take in your golden coupon for 20% through Sunday, July 7 The coupon can be found on their website. (You can download to your smart phone, too.)

What better way to celebrate American spirit than connect with community, support local entrepreneurship, keeping more dollars in our great town and adding to the strength, integrity and uniqueness of Tucson.

One quick note, however. In my bike ride along the streetcar route, most of these businesses were closed today in honor of the national holiday.

In other news, scaffolding is coming down around Cadence and going up around One Broadway. Cadence continues to work in preparation of their August opening. Windows are going in around pending businesses, sidewalks are being built. At One Broadway, infrastructure is showing the development of the facade and prep for windows for retail, offices and apartments. Workers were at both sites today. The Saint continues to be busy with workers as well. Movement was happening earlier this week in the future site of Cartel Coffee Lab and the student housing development on Ninth Avenue, after a year of delays, has begun. Tap & Bottle is open and busy, Great Oak Bar plans a September 1 opening.

In Portland, our first modern streetcar is testing on their tracks!

I like the way you write…Makes me feel like I’m on the bike ride with you. I hope to ride my bike more once I’m moved. Sure are lots of openings and buildings being built. Exciting!!
