Breakfast in the Garden

24 Aug

The Friends of Tucson’s Birthplace are celebrating the fruits of their labor with their annual breakfast fundraiser on Sunday, August 25. So, get yourself out of bed & over to the mission gardens where you can nosh on regional foods for $20 in advance or $25 at the door.  RSVP @ 777.9270 or missiongarden.tucson@gmail.com.  The morning event takes place from 7-10 AM at Mercado San Agustin.

Check out the progress that has been made at the footsteps of Sentinel Peak. The Kino heritage trees are producing fruit, native trees surround the outer perimeter, historic gardens are going in and shade structures have been built. Take an early morning stroll and breathe in the fresh August air, enjoy your bites and coffee, and take in 4000 years of contiguous history.

You can even purchase a heritage fruit tree for your own garden! Shouldn’t everyone have a little fruit in their yard?

Can’t make it tomorrow?  The friends give tours on Saturdays, from 8-12.  And, they could always use another volunteer or two to nurture our history & future.
