Celebrate @ The Mercado

7 Feb

The Mercado San Agustin has been one of my favorite spots to visit since it’s opening. I like being @ the center of Tucson’s birthplace. I have enjoyed the shops, the special events, the farmer’s market.

Tomorrow, the Mercado celebrates the Grand Opening of three shops: Blu, a wine and cheese shop with Arizona cheeses, Mast, a store that features local designers and more, and Transit Cycle, a new commuter bike shop. In addition, Agustin Kitchen is a redo with famed local born & bred Ryan Clark. The luxe interior remains, as does the design concept on the website & menu. Let’s celebrate, from 5-7 PM, Friday night!

I plan on picking up a cochito or two at La Estrella Bakery while I’m there.

Next Saturday, our beloved taqueria, Taqueria El Pueblito, is saying goodbye. I have enjoyed this eatery many a time, for breakfast and for lunch. In true fashion, they’ll be celebrating all day long – from 7 to 7. Mariachis will keep the mood festive.  I plan to stop in one last time, for a flavor-filled breakfast burrito.

The Mercado, in its current state, is now totally occupied. While different from their initial plan (no start up vendor spaces or market), it’s still a fantastic place to visit, eat and shop. Wanting to support a local startup? Something’s brewing at the old Safeway on Broadway @ Fifth!
