Urban Fresh totally embraces the whole foods movement. Everything they offer comes from plants. The menu includes juices and smoothies, salads and wraps, soups and even desserts. The place has a few outdoor tables, an inside eating bar to view passersby from the window. Wifi is available. A TV screen shows enticing pics of delectable fresh foods. Some of their fresh organic products come from Sleeping Frog Farms and Arizona Sprout House. Sandwiches and salads are made and placed in containers each day – so, you can eat in or take with you. On my visit, the band Delerium was playing in the background. What could be better?! The owners, Kathleen and Kathy, were friendly and willing to share their love of whole foods and ways to prepare them with customers eager to learn.  Folks who take greater care in what they eat and where it comes from will find happiness here.

On my visit, I had the Green Goddess Wrap – avocado, kale, cucumber, pea shoots, basil, sun dried tomato, pesto, green hummus all wrapped in spinach tortilla goodness – and the prickly pear watermelon tea.  Yum!

Want to learn more? They have classes too. Check it out at UrbanFreshTucson.com. Catch the food when you can – they’re open 9-3 Monday through Friday, on Pennington, kiddy corner from Cafe Poca Cosa.

In related food news, Agustin Brasserie is taking a summer respite, while the bar will be open on Thursdays during Santa Cruz Farmers Market time.  And on Monday, June 17, members of the Tucson Food Truck Coalition will share some bites and wisdom for people who may be interested in starting some culinary goodness of their own.  7 PM at the Steinfeld Warehouse on Toole Avenue.  See you there!
